Ok, yesterday it rained like I haven’t seen rain in a long time (and it’s been pretty rainy here this winter!). Yesterday gave the phrase “heavy at times” a whole new meaning. Like 8-10 inches of HEAVY AT TIMES!!!! We pretty much just stayed in our cozy home and treated it like a snow day. (You know, a good book, a couple of naps, playing with my new Photoshop Elements 6 program…… 🙂 ). It was even raining as we went to bed. Geeeeezzzzz.
Saturday morning was still cloudy, but we decided to head west to DeFuniak Springs for a local quilt show. The sun broke out on our way and it turned into a day just as lovely as the day before had been ugly. DeFuniak Springs was hosting the Chautauqua Winter Assembly and the quilt show was part of the weekend’s activities. We enjoyed the quilt show along with the art show at the same location, and then took a leisurely drive around the perfectly round (though swollen from all the rain) lake. There are wonderful turn of the century homes all around the lake, and as a bonus the camellias are in full bloom right now – and I couldn’t resist a couple of shots!
Tonight we said good-bye to our dear friends Joan and Bob who head north to Pennsylvania (silly them!). We had worked with them three years ago and totally enjoyed getting to work (and play) with them again for the last two months. I know it’s kind of hokey, but it’s true – Friends are Friends forever, if the Lord’s the Lord of them. Safe travels, good buddies!!
