Once again our area was spared the worst of the severe weather – no evacuations yet! Phew!

Since Valentine’s Day has come and gone – and most of my Valentine postcards have been received ( little Hayley is still waiting for hers :-( ) – I thought I’d post pictures of my first attempt at fabric postcards. I had lots of fun making them and I think my kids and grandkids enjoyed receiving them.

Thank you, Lynne, for inspiring me and encouraging me.
I’m pretty addicted to these, so watch out! St. Patty’s day is just around the corner!

Whoeee – a whole Saturday with no official responsibilities!!!!! We slept in (well, a little – till 7:30), watched a couple of quilting shows on PBS (ok, so that was more fun for me than for Gary), and then grabbed some friends and headed to Dothan. Aside from a short shopping list, we were actually planning on doing some geocaching – something we hadn’t done for quite a while! We only did a couple, but it was fun to get back in the game. And we were able to introduce our friends Joan and Bob to the fun! Here we are at a small Veterans’ Memorial in town.

After our Walmart-Sams Club-Home Depot – call all the kids time in Dothan we headed back to the ranch with plenty of time for a quick nap and some down time before our next excitement – Bluegrass and Gospel at a local restaurant in Bonifay.
Here’s a shot of the “down time” -

The band was pretty good – you know, for local talent. Probably wouldn’t make it to Nashville, but they were certainly having a good time – as were we!
Here they are – the Panhandle Express (or at least the ones that showed up!). Except for the kid on the banjo, it was a pretty “mature” group!
Hot time in the Old Town

We’re heading to bed -but it really was a grand old Saturday. The weather was lovely (sunny and seventy), the chores were light, the fellowship (and entertainment) was sweet and any day that we talk to all the kids is a very good day!

Sweet dreams!

It was a bit nippy yesterday morning –
MorningFrost
But nothing compared to the day my friend Lynne woke up to….
ice2thumbIt’s beautiful, I admit, but I like the hint of green I see in my picture! (and the fact it’s heading to the high 60′s today!)
Enough about the weather…..

Last night (to celebrate Valentine’s Day?) we went to the boys’ basketball game. They are in a league with the Baptist College down the road in Graceville. As I understand it, it’s an intramural league made up of teams from the college and Teen Challenge. What our boys might lack in size they make in stamina (it’s those daily 5:30AM workouts), and both Varisty and JV won! It was great fun to watch – lots of us old folks went to cheer them on.

There are two dad’s here, volunteering their skills (electrician and plumber) for a couple of weeks. They somehow got on the team – and had lots of fun playing with their sons. Here’s Paul at the foul line.

(Pretty much they were happy to end the game uninjured!) :-)

Hope your Valentine’s Day was lovely!

Well, we were close to a Two Egg town. Actually it was the town of Two Egg. Honest!

We ladies were out enjoying our “Ladies’ Day Out” – which this month included a trip to Marianna to see their lovely antebellum homes, a trip up the road to Greenwood to see Pender’s Store (which we were told was quite historic, but was actually just a dusty old neighborhood store that carried pvc fittings, crushed pinapple and local honey. Hmmmm.) We had a lovely lunch back in Marianna, stopped at a organic healthfood store, and then made a quick trip to our local outlet mall (6 stores!). Ok, so it wasn’t quite a trip to Longwood Gardens, but we had a fun time exploring the area. The Chamber of Commerce in Marianna was in a wonderful old house – here we are on the balcony -

How’s the weather where you are? The last several days have been very lovely – highs in the 60′s and low 70′s. So we were sure spring was well on it’s way. But a cold front came through last night (along with another Tornado Watch), and today was just in the 40′s. Tonight we’re headed into the 20′s. Brrrrrrrr…..
Guess we’ll be dripping those faucets tonight!
