Sabbath Rest – Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

This is a slightly different arrangement of a favorite hymn of mine that I found today. Maybe you will like it too! There is a new verse, so feel free to follow along with the lyrics below.

Written by the Baptist Pastor Robert Robinson in 1757, the words of the beloved hymn Come Thou Fount still ring true today. The new bridge & verse was written to reflect the very heart of Awaken Generation, which is to stir the children of God to awaken to their kingdom calling & to celebrate in an eternal, Christ-won victory.

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount, I’m fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love

Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He, to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood
How his kindness yet pursues me
Mortal tongue can never tell
Clothed in flesh till death shall lose me
I cannot proclaim it well

Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be
Let that goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, oh, take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

Hallelujah, He has saved me
Hallelujah, He has come
Hallelujah, it is finished
O the victory has been won

O awaken all he children
Hear the call of Father’s love
This salvation not for keeping
But to share and to award
A generation You desire
Bringing Jesus to the lost
No other worthy cause we cling to
Than the one shown on the cross

Here is the story of how this arrangement came to be.
