Well, we never saw Garth Brooks but we had a great time seeing the sights of downtown Nashville. Gary’s cousin Andrea (Lake) Walkup has lived there for the last 10 years or so – and she was our guide. Along with all of the music stuff (country music in particular) there is a fair bit of Civil War history and some wonderful memorial parks dotted throughout the city. We visited the Capital Building and walked the Nashville Bicentennial Mall – an amazing display of state information and history. We did not do the Country Music Hall of Fame (nor will we get to Graceland I am sure) and we didn’t sing from the Ryman Music Hall stage – but we did get a feel for Nashville. There’s lots to see and do, whether you even know who Garth Brooks is!
Here are the Walkups, our gracious hosts while we were in town. We were able to stay in the parking lot of their church – Calvary Methodist Church. It was good to be among family and friends!
