Tuesday Morning

It’s 70 degrees right now, but by tonight it will be dropping to the 30’s. And you know what that means….”Severe T-Storm Watch is in effect”. This really has been a winter of weather events!

Yesterday 8 new boys arrived as inductees here at Teen Challenge. I was privileged to meet some of the parents and sit with them in the moments after they left their sons with the drill instructors. Since virtually all of the boys come against their will and their farewells were not full of hugs and kisses, it was a very emotional time for these moms and dads. Tears, silence, doubt, relief, and more tears. Single moms, single dads, couples that realized a drastic step was needed to save their sons from a direction that was leading to destruction. Please pray for these boys and their families. The next time these parents will see their sons will be in June and they won’t have them home again until May 2009. It’s a hard time for all of them. My heart was breaking with theirs yesterday, but I was also filled with hope for the work of the Spirit in these young men’s lives.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:11-13

Wind is picking up – could be a wild day!
