Whew!

“Vacation” is over. Gary made it safe and sound to our June project (America’s Keswick in Whiting, NJ), and I have returned from my very precious “Girls’ Week” in Vermont.

And just to digress a moment about GW 2006 – it was great! I have been blessed with wonderful sisters. And we have been blessed to have this wonderful cabin in Vermont where we can connect with each other once a year. While there is always the busy-ness of opening the cabin for the season – mowing, cleaning, defrosting, de-bugging, there is always time for laughing and crying and playing and praying and family visiting and reading and singing and staying up late and sleeping in and….well, I’m sure you get my drift. I was having such a great time that I totally failed to take my traditional cabin pictures – but you can check here to see the ones from our trip earlier this spring. And here are just a couple from our day visiting family in Waitsfield, VT. This is the Mad River – though it doesn’t look very mad here!

And a wonderful covered bridge….

So, here we are in New Jersey. It still makes me smile to think how we’ve been “on the road” for close to two years, and here we are in NEW JERSEY! However, there are new things to be discovered everywhere, and today we drove to a lovely little community near Toms River and found out just how pretty that river’s edge could be (thanks, Michelle!).

Tomorrow we get to work at whatever they have for us to do. I’m not sure anyone has a firm handle what exactly that will be so I’ll fill in the details when I get them!

Home again – then gone again!

Phew, we made it home. The flight back to Boston was uneventful, the drive back to our home was LONG (who knew that that many cars could be on the Mass Turnpike at 1AM!!!!), and our own bed felt GREAT! Yesterday and today are busy with washing clothes and getting ready to go again (at least for me) as I head tomorrow to VT for my precious Girls’ Week at our cabin. Ahhhh…..
However – about that time in California! IT WAS GREAT!!!! Lara did a superb job of “sampling” the best of the area for us. We saw beaches and mountains, marveled at tall trees and spectacular coastlines, ate Russian Blintz’s and Mexican Enchiladas (to mention just a few of the great meals we had!), and enjoyed historic sights along with a taste of the future (hey, we were in the Silicon Valley!). The weather mostly cooperated and we are ready to head back again. Hopefully for more than a couple of days and in our own “space”. There is a beautiful Sower project nearby that we hope to work at in 2007.
Here are a couple of pictures from our time there. There are others here if you’d like to see more!
This is from our drive down the coast to Big Sur. An amazing drive that I was very happy not to be taking the RV on!

The coast at Big Sur is one of Lara’s favorite spots – and we can see why. It’s so hard to grasp the grandeur of the place….

Our rainy day still was beautiful – this is in Santa Cruz

And here we all are – just outside of Lara’s home. It’s a beautiful campus (Santa Clara University)!

Oh – and of course the Golden Gate Bridge….

I’d better get back to getting organized for the next adventure!

Crossing the country

Well, we finally made it to California! For those of you that have been praying our about our airplane adventure, just wanted to let you know that we made it with little or no drama. Ok, so we almost missed the plane from Dallas to San Jose, but the operative word there is ALMOST! Flying over the Grand Canyon and then the snow capped Rockies was inspriring. We may not make it in 2006, but Lord willing we WILL be there with Lizzie in 2007!
We’re both recovering from our 2AM start of the day, so that’s all for now! Back to the nap!

Amazing!

We saw an amazing thing today.
THE SUN!
Now, we didn’t see a lot of it, but then we wouldn’t want to OD on something that has been in such short supply lately! And if the sun continues to peek out from the clouds, there will be a lot of lawn mowers going this weekend! (Unless the whole lawn is underwater!)
On other notes –
New pics of the granddaughters!
I think they are beginning to enjoy being “hams” together!
