I’m thankful today….

for another birthday!
Baby Steph
Let’s face it – we’re never promised that next birthday (or that next day, for that matter). So today I’m thankful that I’ve made it to another birthday. It’s been a great day from being awakened (maybe a bit earlier than I’d hoped) by two little boys singing Happy Birthday to me, to a bit of Facetime with a sweet 4 year old, to cards and calls from my kids and sisters, to oh-so-many birthday wishes on Facebook. Gary was in rare form, and returned from an early morning errand run with flowers and chocolates and an offer to do the laundry so I could stay home and sip coffee.

Tonight we’re headed out for dinner with our SOWER friends and then maybe, if we old folks are too tired, we might even stay up for some wild and crazy game playing.

As we head towards our 70’s (Gary’s closer than I am!), every birthday brings more reasons to be thankful!  For all of it’s ‘new every morning’ aches and pains, each year is still more abundantly filled with His ‘new every morning’ Faithfulness.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

It’s easy today

to find something to be thankful for!! On this day, eleven years ago we welcomed this sweet little blue-eyed beauty into our family!

(full disclosure, she did not arrive looking quite like this! =) )
She’s filled our lives with smiles and snuggles, laughter and love! I feel a special affinity with Maddie since she’s the classic ‘middle child’ (kinda like me), celebrates her birthday just one day before mine, and is the lone blonde haired, blue-eyed child in her family (which she definitely got from her Daddy’s (our son) side of the family!)

We got to spoil her for a week this past summer, so her sweetness is still fresh in our minds!
Happy Birthday, Maddie in the Middle! We love you to the moon and back!
Finally - the three of us

Monday’s are for Memories – February 20, 2008

Looking back nine years from today – we were in the Florida Panhandle, working at Teen Challenge Boys Ranch in Bonifay. This was our second winter there, and it seems like we were pretty anxious for some spring weather.

Spring is coming, right? Feb 20, 2008
Ok, even though we’re here in Florida if you’ve been reading along this winter, you know we’ve had some pretty darn cold weather. So I am happy to report that there are definate signs of spring appearing. I noticed leaf buds on some of the shrubs this morning, and just outside the rig I saw these lovely spring flowers….

And if it’s starting here, I’m sure it will be coming to a neighborhood near you soon! 🙂

Tammy 2And now a Happy Birthday shout out to our daughter-in-law Tammy She’s been part of our family for the last 7 (or so) years, and we have been blessed to call her our daughter. She loves the Lord, she loves our son, and she’s a wonderful mother to our three granddaughters. We love you, Tammy – Happy, Happy Birthday!

Real time update – It’s Tammy’s birthday again (of course!), but some of her ‘stat’s have changed. She’s been part of our family for the last 15+ years and we continue to be blessed to call her daughter! She still loves the Lord, she love our son, and she’s a wonderful mother to FIVE of our beautiful grandchildren! We love you to the moon and back, Tammy – Happy, Happy Birthday Again!
