Sabbath Joy – He is Risen Indeed!

It was beautiful Resurrection Sunday here in Clinton, MO! We celebrated our Risen Lord this morning with new and old SOWER friends, and were thankful to be in the house of the LORD this Easter!
Unto the grave, what will we sing?
“Christ, He lives; Christ, He lives!”
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with Him

Christ our Hope in Life and Death

What is our hope in life and death?
Christ alone, Christ alone
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to Him belong

Who holds our days within His hand?
What comes, apart from His command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ, in which we stand

O sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death

What truth can calm the troubled soul?
God is good, God is good
Where is His grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer’s blood

Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us night
Unto the shore, the rock of Christ?

O sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death

Unto the grave, what will we sing?
“Christ, He lives; Christ, He lives!”
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with Him

There we will rise to meet the Lord
Then sin and death will be destroyed
And we will feast in endless joy
When Christ is ours forevermore

O sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death

O sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal;
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death

More Easter Blessings

I knew when we signed up for this project there was a good possibility that we would get to connect with some dear friends whom we haven’t seen in years. I also knew that there were several other SOWER projects in the area (OK, about a 100 mile radius) that might just allow for some lovely SOWER connections during the month too. But what I had failed to realize was that my nephew and family were just up the road in Hendersonville, NC, only 60 miles away.  What a lovely surprise to receive a text Sunday morning inviting us up for the afternoon  – egg hunt and Easter dinner included!
I’m not going to tell you it was next door

but it was a beautiful day for a drive, and we were excited to be seeing folks we hadn’t seen in just about a year!
First up, it was time for the directions for the Egg Hunt.
Untitled
You know – who can find what color, the hunt boundaries, and other pertinent egg hunting directives. Then it was off for the egg gathering!

I can see one of your blue ones, Hugh!

Lot of fun for the little ones, and then a delicious home cooked Easter dinner! No pictures. Too busy eating!
Before too long it was time to pack it in and head back home. After all, the new job  started in the morning. But since the day was totally unexpected, it was doubly filled with joy!

Today continued with the Easter blessings. After a good first day of work, we managed a lovely connection with our missionary friends, Jeff and Esther. In reality, they aren’t our missionary friends, they are our friends who have served faithfully on several different mission fields for the last 40+ years. And before that, we were high school friends!

These dear friends are only about 15 minutes away so I know we’ll see them again during our time here. And we are very thankful for that!

Praying your Easter Season was filled with the reality that is our Risen Savior! We seem to only say it on Easter Sunday, but it’s true every day – He is Risen!! He is Risen Indeed!

Sabbath Celebration – The Power of the Cross

HE IS RISEN!!! HE IS RISEN INDEED!!!
The Day is almost done, but the words ring loud and clear! He has risen, just as HE said! Oh, the Power of the Cross!

The Power of the Cross

Oh, to see the dawn
Of the darkest day:
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men,
Torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood.

CHORUS:
This, the pow’r of the cross:
Christ became sin for us;
Took the blame, bore the wrath—
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see the pain
Written on Your face,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin.
Ev’ry bitter thought,
Ev’ry evil deed
Crowning Your bloodstained brow.

Now the daylight flees;
Now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two,
Dead are raised to life;
“Finished!” the vict’ry cry.

Oh, to see my name
Written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death;
Life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.

FINAL CHORUS:
This, the pow’r of the cross:
Son of God—slain for us.
What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Making Adjustments

Now that my sisters and I have discovered Zoom, we have a standing date for Tuesdays at Two.  What a delight! Today, among other things, we shared how we each spent this oh-so-out-of-the-ordinary Easter.

Elna met celebrated the Resurrection with her church on Zoom. She told how they’d been working out the kinks with the technology, and how blessed she was to be able to worship with her church family even though they were all in their boxes in the screen. Lovely!

Joie and Fitz watched their pastor and were blessed by his Easter message. Later in the day they watched a Good Friday message from a favorite pastor in Chattanooga.  No big family gathering, but all good!

We sat by the computer (though I did shower, put on a dress and even put on lipstick) and “attended” church outside of Washington, DC – McLean Bible Church.  David Platt preached a powerful sermon and the worship team drew us in.

Later in the day we each took time to watch an impromptu Andrew Peterson concert –

Excellent in every way!

Over the course of the weekend we each either Zoomed or Portal-ed with our families and even though it was a far cry from gathering around a table and sharing a meal

it still did this mama’s heart good!

This year the celebration of Easter was different for everyone. And I mean Everyone. But Easter hasn’t changed. The tomb is still empty. Jesus has still conquered death. Hallelujah! What a Savior!!

Resurrection Joy – HE is Risen Indeed!

We might not be gathering with fellow believers in person today, but the message of the Cross has not changed! He is Risen – He is Risen indeed!
