O come, Thou, Dayspring from on high
And cause Thy light on us to rise
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night

An ancient advent hymn (12th century), translated in 1851, O Come, O Come Emmanuel has long been a favorite Christmas hymn of mine.  Here are ALL the verses, and an instrumental rendition by The Piano Guys.

1 O come, O come, Immanuel,
and ransom captive Israel
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appear.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel
shall come to you, O Israel.

2 O come, O Wisdom from on high,
who ordered all things mightily;
to us the path of knowledge show
and teach us in its ways to go. Refrain
