National Limerick Day

Did you know May 12 is National Limerick Day? It’s celebrated on the birthday of Edward Lear, a 19th century writer. Here is one of his limericks you might be familiar with –

There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, ‘It is just as I feared!
Two Owls and a Hen,
Four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!’

So in honor of this auspicious day, I wrote a limerick.

There once was a Gramma named Steph
Who had trouble telling her right from her left
He’d hand her a map
She’d turn it round in her lap
Surely getting anywhere was always a gift!

Yes – I’m keeping my day job!
